Bay Area Zinfandel
This is a radically diverse area, both in its geography and proximity to the ocean, creating a variety of microclimates. This widely varied region includes the Livermore Valley and Contra Costa County to the east of San Francisco and the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley to the south.
Descriptors of Bay Area Zinfandels often include aromas of rich black cherry and spicy herbs, with elements of bramble, cassis, licorice, and chocolate. These wines can show ripe black cherry, black currant and blackberries, with hints of hazelnuts, bacon, currant, plums, and creamy vanilla.
