We are excited to announce that Tobin and Ray of Green and Red Vineyards have partnered with Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP) to host an extraordinary tour through Northern Italy this fall. This is your opportunity to join them for 9 days and 8 nights of glorious pleasures around the table with superb food and wines of the region, surrounded by breathtaking panoramas, charming villages, and cultural heritage, complete with luxurious accommodations, private winery visits, and so much more!
As you know, Green & Red has been making the special house wine at Alice Water’s Chez Panisse restaurant for over 35 years (a Zinfandel, of course!). Tobin grew up between the vines and took the reins of Green & Red from her father, Jay Heminway, in 2019. Besides making and knowing wine, especially Zinfandel, Tobin and Ray also have extensive connections to Italy. Ray is an Italian citizen, both Tobin and Ray can speak Italian, and they have already toured through and thus know very well many of the glorious places in Italy scheduled for the tour.

ZAP has created an exquisitely curated wine and food Northern Italy adventure like no other. And, this is your opportunity to join Tobin, and her husband, Ray for 9 days and 8 nights of glorious pleasures of the table, surrounded by breathtaking panoramas, charming villages, and cultural heritage, complete with luxurious accommodations, private boutique winery visits, a cooking class, guided by a local food and wine expert and so much more!

A bit of inspiration for this Northern Italy tour comes from the American actor, Stanley Tucci (Italian on both sides) who went “Searching for Italy” and found culinary wonders from Bologna, Modena to Parma, looking for the best food of the land. We’ve taken this exploration to an entirely higher level with the addition of tastings at acclaimed wineries, a Michelin-starred restaurant dinner, truffle hunt, and sports car museum tour. You’ll also have plenty of time to wander the streets of towns and villages to shop, relax at a café, taste the most exquisite Parma Ham, aged balsamic vinegar from Modena and, of course delight in the succulent flavors of the season!

Italy has attracted awe-struck tourists for centuries. Chances are, if you’ve been to Europe, Italy was one of your first destinations. And, if you haven’t been, destiny awaits!

How It Works

Due to the anticipated popularity of this tour, there are two trips planned with Tobin and Ray. When you complete your registration form, please indicate your first and second date preferences. We are making a limited number of advance offerings available to secure your spot now, before the night of the Winemakers Dinner & Auction at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco on January 28. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-reserved basis with deposit.
